Librarians enter the profession from a wide variety of undergraduate backgrounds - any discipline can be useful! Most librarians have a Masters in Library (or Information) Science

Some smaller public libraries may not require a Masters degree, and School Library Media Specialists may instead get a teaching certification in the area.

There are many jobs in libraries that aren't "librarians" and don't require specific degrees.

Librarians at DePauw would be happy to talk to you about the profession (the good and the bad), and have found alumni who have entered librarianship who have agreed to be contacts for current and future students. Please reach out to Tiffany Hebb (thebb@depauw.edu) or any other librarian if you want to talk.
