The DePauw Libraries recommend installing the browser extension LibKey Nomad.
LibKey Nomad can improve scholars' search experiences a few ways:
1. If installed, LibKey Nomad can accelerate the research process by connecting users to full-text faster. This is particularly useful if a researcher is looking at an abstract in Google Scholar, Pubmed, etc. and the full-text is not available in that specific database. With LibKey Nomad installed, users can click one button and LibKey Nomad will search both an open-access registry and the library's holdings to see if the full-text version can be accessed anywhere else on the web. If it can, LibKey Nomad will retrieve the full-text right away. This same function can also be used to bypass the HTML view of a journal article and go directly to the PDF or printer-friendly view.
Example Description: The randomized control trial found in PubMed was not available full-text via PMC. With LibKey Nomad installed I am able to quickly click "Download PDF" which immediately transferred me to the full-text PDF in EBSCO where the library DOES have access to the full-text. This allows me to download or print the full-text as needed without copying, pasting, or searching the web.
2. If the resource's full-text is still unavailable, LibKey Nomad will provide a seamless transition to alternate access options such as placing an inter-library loan request through DePauw's Libraries.
3. LibKey Nomad can also link users to database-specific FAQ's, registration guides, or announce any domain-specific message DePauw Libraries may need to communicate. See a few examples below:
