What is VPN, and why do I need to use it?

Virtual Private Network or VPN enables you to connect to the campus network irrespective of your location and lets you access resources as if you were on campus without the need for further authentication. Once connected to the VPN, you can connect to your network drives and other resources that require you to be on campus or directly connected to the DePauw campus network.

Who can use the VPN?

DePauw VPN is available for use to all current students, staff, and faculty.

Which VPN software does DePauw recommend?

DePauw uses Forticlient as its VPN software and you can download and configure this on your personal computer/laptop. The client is available for use on both MAC and Windows machines.

How do I install the VPN software/client on my computer?

Are there any limitations to using the VPN?

VPN licenses are limited so we recommend that you access and download the content you need and disconnect so others get to use the limited license pool. Due to this, you might receive an error message when connecting if there are no available free licenses, if this occurs try in a few minutes to check if some licenses have been freed up for use.
